After further review and testing, Orion has determined that the recent production incident affecting ASTRO and Orion Custom Indexing blended benchmarks was not widespread but instead isolated to two firms.
Although the impact was limited, we have deployed new code to provide an additional guardrail against potential benchmark issues. We’ve also added enhanced error handling and messaging to help notify advisors of any future issues.
Orion has been in direct communication with the affected firms and will continue working closely with them to monitor the resolution and assess any impact.
All other ASTRO and Orion Custom Indexing users may resume normal operations.

A solution to this incident has been identified and is currently being refined for deployment, which is expected by the morning of Wednesday, November 5.
In the meantime, we continue to recommend that advisors refrain from optimizing and trading accounts that use a blended benchmark where one or more components are user-created models (identified by the prefix MODEL_).

Investigating
A production incident has been opened to investigate an issue affecting certain ASTRO and Custom Indexing users. The issue impacts strategies using blended benchmarks that include both Orion-provided benchmarks and user-created models.
Currently, ASTRO is recognizing only the benchmark portion of these blended benchmarks, resulting in totals that do not equal 100%.
Until the root cause is identified and resolved, please refrain from optimizing accounts that use blended benchmarks. Strategies using a single benchmark or a single model are not affected.
